Working with QR codes in iGEO helps speed up the inspection of control points.
Sometimes, due to the position of the installed devices and the amount of material technicians carry to perform inspections, opening each device to analyze its status can become a cumbersome task.
That’s why, at iGEO, we suggest working with QR codes so you can access all the information about the control point more directly and streamline navigation through iGEO.
How to work with QR codes in iGEO?
There are a few aspects to consider, such as whether you’re working from the office or from the technical portal, and whether the codes are created automatically or manually.
Regardless of the option you choose, you must always have a QR sticker and attach it to the linked control point.
Below, we will detail how to work with iGEO for each of the options.
Automatic QR Code Creation
In cases where there is no QR code or you do not have pre-made QR stickers, this is the option you need.
Whether from the technical portal or the office portal, when creating the control point, you will find the option “create QR Conde automatically”.

If we select the “Yes” option, a QR code associated with that control point will be instantly created.

What happens in cases where the control points are already created in iGEO but do not have assigned QR codes?
No problem, if you access the control point file, you will find the blue button:

Is the technician autonomous in managing the QR codes?
Yes, because they have these 3 options to choose from, depending on what best suits their circumstances.

- Automatically generate QR codes: This is the option we explained earlier, in case the control point exists, but you don’t have a linked QR code.
- Assign QR/Barcode to this control point: In case a QR code is linked to the device but not registered in iGEO. At this point, you should scan the QR code or upload a photo of it. It will then be linked in iGEO.

3. Manually assign QR/Barcode: You can enter the alphanumeric values that represent the QR code.

By entering this code, it will become part of the control point and will appear as information in its record.
How do I generate a QR code from the Office Portal?
It’s very simple. You need to access the list of control points for the site, and from there you will find the option to generate the QR code for that specific control point.
If you click on the blue edit button, you must select the option to automatically generate a QR code.

In case you have several control points in the same situation, so you don’t have to do this for each one individually, you’ll notice that if you select multiple points in the list and go to the “Action” button located at the top right of the table, you’ll find the option.

This way, all the selected control points will have their own QR code.
