Water quality management increasingly requires precision, traceability and responsiveness. In a sector where regulations, laboratory analysis and technical documentation are part of everyday operations, working with manual processes can lead to delays, errors and an administrative burden that is difficult to sustain.
For years, many companies specialising in water quality, Legionella prevention and environmental health have had to manage their analyses through emails, attachments, spreadsheets, phone calls and duplicated processes between technicians, offices and laboratories. Sample collection, sending data to the laboratory, receiving results, downloading reports and updating customer documentation could become slow, disconnected tasks with a high risk of human error.
In these types of services, it is not enough to perform fieldwork correctly. It must also be possible to prove it, document it and update it clearly, quickly and accessibly. Legionella prevention and control, PPCL document management, risk assessments, analytical results and the traceability of each facility require systems capable of centralising information and supporting better decision-making.
In response to this need, at iGEO we saw the opportunity to develop a specific solution that would directly connect environmental health companies with their reference laboratories. This is how PDI Lab was created: our laboratory integration platform, designed to digitalise information exchange, automate processes and keep all data connected within iGEO’s daily operations.
Thanks to this evolution, companies can manage contracts, facilities, circuits, samples, analyses, documents, reports and results from a single platform. The goal is for every piece of data generated in the field to be connected with the rest of the operation: from the technician collecting the sample to the laboratory issuing the result, including the office team managing the customer and the Customer Portal where the final documentation is shared.
Today, this commitment to integration is already a consolidated reality: more than 20 laboratories are connected with PDI Lab, enabling a direct, automated and traceable connection between service companies, their reference laboratories and their customers.
This milestone not only demonstrates iGEO’s technological evolution, but also our commitment to a sector that requires increasingly agile, connected solutions adapted to regulatory reality.
More Than 20 Laboratories Connected with iGEO
Laboratory connection is one of the key points for any company managing water quality services. Sample collection, data submission, result reception, analytical interpretation and document updates usually involve multiple steps, emails, attachments and manual reviews.
With iGEO’s PDI Lab, this process is simplified and transformed into a digital, connected and automated workflow.
Once sample collection has been completed, the information can be automatically sent to the laboratory, including key data such as the collection site, date and time, container type, initial conditions, sample code and the parameters to be analysed by the laboratory.
This code-based traceability makes it possible to identify each sample accurately, reduce human error and ensure that all necessary information reaches the laboratory in a structured format.
Subsequently, when the laboratory issues the results, the report can be received directly in iGEO, linked to the corresponding sample and made available for consultation and download through the Customer Portal.
Currently, more than 20 laboratories are already connected with iGEO, allowing our customers to work more efficiently, reduce administrative tasks and maintain full traceability for each analysis.
This network of integrated laboratories represents a real operational advantage for companies in the sector, as it allows a traditionally manual process to be transformed into a digital, connected and automated workflow.
What Is PDI Lab and Why Does It Transform Analysis Management?
PDI Lab is iGEO’s integration platform designed to connect pest control, environmental health and water quality companies with their reference laboratories. Its objective is clear: to simplify analysis management and speed up the exchange of information between technicians, offices, laboratories and customers.
Working with PDI Lab allows companies to:
- Automate the sending and receiving of information linked to samples.
- Send key data to the laboratory, such as collection site, times, container type, initial conditions, sample code and parameters to be analysed.
- Simplify analysis management.
- Ensure result traceability through sample codes.
- Reduce human error.
- Receive the PDF of the laboratory results report.
- Publish results in the Customer Portal.
- Allow customers to consult and download the PDF laboratory results report from the Customer Portal.
- Automatically update documentation linked to the PPCL.
- Work under stronger and more consistent quality standards.
In practice, this translates into a significant reduction in the time spent managing analyses. Companies can save more than 50% of the time invested in these tasks, eliminating repetitive processes, avoiding duplicated information and reducing the administrative workload associated with data exchange with laboratories.
iGEO at Leading Water Quality Industry Events
Our commitment to the water quality sector is also reflected in our active participation in leading events, congresses and professional meetings. These spaces allow us to stay close to the companies, technicians, associations and specialists driving the evolution of the sector, share knowledge and continue developing solutions adapted to their real needs.
In this context, iGEO recently participated in the II Iberian Congress on Indoor Environmental Quality and Legionella Prevention and Control, organised by AQUA España and FEDECAI. During our participation, we addressed the importance of moving towards comprehensive digital PPCL management, connecting the technical, operational, documentary and analytical information of each facility in a single system.
This approach makes it possible to manage circuits, elements, risk assessments, samples, laboratory results, maintenance tasks, cleaning certificates, corrective measures and documentation from a centralised platform, reducing administrative complexity and improving control over each process.
Adapting Legionella Risk Assessment to UNE 100030
At iGEO, we have also adapted Legionella risk assessment to the UNE 100030 standard, incorporating more precise management by circuits, specific models according to the type of facility, visual risk assessment and integrated documentation generation within the PPCL.
This improvement enables companies to work with greater traceability, automation and control, making the daily management of facilities with Legionella risk easier from a single platform.
Conclusion: Technology to Drive Water Quality Management
The integration of more than 20 laboratories with PDI Lab, iGEO’s participation in the II Iberian Congress on Indoor Environmental Quality and Legionella Prevention and Control by AQUA España and FEDECAI, and the adaptation of Legionella risk assessment to UNE 100030 all reflect the same direction: continuing to drive the digitalisation of the water quality sector.
At iGEO, we believe technology should make daily work easier, reduce complexity and help companies meet their technical and regulatory obligations without losing efficiency.
That is why we continue to evolve our platform so that water quality, environmental health and Legionella prevention companies can manage their processes from a single system, connecting technicians, office teams, laboratories and customers in real time.
Water quality requires control, traceability and precision. With iGEO, all of this can be managed from a single platform.
